 Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Celebrates 100 Years

LOS ANGELES — (February 17, 2011) — Over 300 friends and supporters of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital (LAOH) gathered at the institution’s Downtown Campus on Friday, February 11, to celebrate as the institution marked the end of its first century of service and embarked upon its next 100 years of healing.

 

With service locations in downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, on the UCLA Westwood Campus, and in Calexico, California, Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital has helped over two million children lead healthy, active lives.

 

In a letter read by Michael R. Lombardi, Chairman of the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Board of Directors, United States Senator Dianne Feinstein called Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital “an inspiration for us all.”

 

James V. Luck, Jr., M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital, introduced local dignitaries including Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Councilwoman Jan Perry, representing Los Angeles Council District 9.

 

David T. Feinberg, M.D., MBA, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, UCLA Hospital System, spoke of the importance of investing in excellence in pediatric orthopaedic medicine and clinical care.

 

Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital has had a strategic alliance with UCLA since 1998 to foster groundbreaking research, educate the next generation of medical professionals, and augment excellence in pediatric orthopaedic care. The institution’s year-long Centennial Celebration will include the much anticipated opening of the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital in the Fall.
