Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital Brings Holiday Joy to Thousands of Local Children
LOS ANGELES —
December 16, 2009— Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital, a leader in orthopaedic patient
care, education and research, celebrated the holidays with its annual toy
event, “OH Toys! OH Joy!” Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus arrived via helicopter and
handed out thousands of donated gifts to Southland children. In these tough
economic times, for some children, these were the only toys they received this
year.
For more than sixteen years, Los
Angeles Police Department’s SWAT unit has supported the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital toy drive
and the annual tradition of visiting the hospital’s pediatric patients at
this holiday event, to deliver gifts and fulfill every child’s dream of meeting
Santa Claus. Jakks Pacific donated toys along with donations from other
companies around the Southland.
Holiday fun
for the children included seeing Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus arrive via helicopter,
face painting and getting a special toy.
“Our
annual toy giveaway has been a tradition for many, many years. It’s our way to
connect and provide a few smiles for the children in this community,” said Dr. James V. Luck
Jr., president, chief executive officer and medical director of Los Angeles
Orthopaedic Hospital.“This year was
made possible by the generosity of Jakks
Pacific, SWAT, McCormick Ambulance and numerous others.”
