The pediatric orthopaedic hand and wrist physicians have been treating children's hand and wrist problems since the beginning of the Hospital's Pediatric Orthopaedic Program in 1922. The orthopaedic specialists in the Hand and Wrist Clinic provide diagnosis, second opinions, treatment and rehabilitation for children with congenital hand (birth defects) deformities and other hand and wrist disorders.

Congenital Deformities

In addition to treating and managing congenital deformities affecting the hands of children, the goal of the hand specialists is to also improve the function and appearance of the child's hand using prostheses or splints, hand therapy and when appropriate surgical reconstruction.

Early, appropriate and effective treatment can further the development of grasping, pinching and hand-to-eye coordination in the developing child.

Diagnostics and Rehabilitation

The Hand and Wrist Clinic at the Orthopaedic Hospital Outpatient Medical Center provides convenient access to diagnostic services such as radiology and on-site treatment for splints and cast fabrication, in addition to hand therapy utilizing specific and customized modalities for optimum rehabilitation.
