The Paul and Berniece Harbers Runyan Memorial Golf Classic attracts members of the philanthropic and business communities in an effort to raise vital funds to provide care for children with crippling disorders, regardless of their family's ability to pay.

PAUL RUNYAN RECOGNITION AWARD
Paul and Berniece Harbers Runyan played vital roles in support of Orthopaedic Hospital for many years, because they believed in the Hospital's mission to help children receive the best orthopaedic medical care, regardless of a family's ability to pay.
In 2001, the Hospital created the Annual Orthopaedic Hospital Paul Runyan Recognition Award in memory of Berniece Harbers Runyan and in tribute to this couple's commitment to the children cared for by the Hospital. With the passing of Paul in early 2002, the award will continue to serve as an honor to Paul himself, a golfing legend who gave of his time and talents to ensure that children with crippling disorders at Orthopaedic Hospital received medical care and treatment. In memory of both Paul and Berniece Harbers Runyan, this annual award is bestowed upon a person who has made significant contributions to charitable causes and to the sport of golf.
