Dear friends and supporters,
I am pleased to announce that on August 1, 2013 - after more than a century of providing excellent care as Orthopaedic Hospital - we officially changed our name to the Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC). Our new name reflects both our origin, as a clinic dedicated to children with orthopaedic conditions, as well as our future - as an institute dedicated to improving the quality of life of children through outstanding pediatric orthopaedic clinical care, research, and education.
Our new name was unanimously endorsed by our stakeholders and support group representatives, many of whom participated in various focus groups and meetings. Throughout the coming months, you will see our increased visibility as we integrate our new name and logo into our signage, advertising, publications, and social media.
Our new name does not impact our mission in any way. Our dedication to healing, research, and education will continue to be of utmost importance to us! In fact, over the last 102 years, we have had several names, including: Orthopaedic Department Clinic for Children, Orthopaedic Hospital School, Orthopaedic Hospital, and most recently Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital. Throughout all of these name changes, we have continued to devote ourselves to providing world-class patient care to children regardless of their family's ability to pay.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you - our contributors, volunteers, board members and clinical care providers - for continuing to support OIC. Thanks to you, OIC is prepared to continue providing nationally-ranked care for the next 100 years with a fresh look and a new name.
Anthony A. Scaduto, M.D.
