Trauma Care & Fractures

Trauma (Fracture)
The Urgent Care Center at Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC) provides comprehensive emergency medical care to children under 18 years of age with musculoskeletal injuries. Patients are evaluated and treated at the Urgent Care Center at OIC by emergency physicians and nurse practitioners, with the support of an on-site orthopaedic resident. An orthopaedic surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopaedic care is always on-call. The Urgent Care Center is located adjacent to the Outpatient Clinic building at OIC on the downtown Los Angeles Campus.

The Urgent Care Center at OIC is open Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

At the Urgent Care Center at OIC, patients are efficiently evaluated and treated. A wide array of musculoskeletal conditions can be managed by our Urgent Care Center team, including fractures, dislocations, growth plate injuries, acute infections, and others. Patients with non-surgical injuries receive treatment on-the-spot; those in need of urgent surgical management are admitted to the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital.

After emergent fracture treatment (casts, closed reductions or surgery), patients receive their follow-up care in the children's Fracture Clinic at OIC.
