In addition to the Orthopaedic Hospital Outpatient Medical Center located near downtown Los Angeles, in the near future, the most advanced orthopaedic hospital in the world will open its doors to patients.
The new Orthopaedic Hospital, expected to be completed by 2009, will span 85,000-square-feet with six floors, located on Wilshire Boulevard between 15th and 16th Streets in Santa Monica. It will adjoin the new Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center with approximately 30% of the inpatient beds available for orthopaedic care.
In addition to inpatient facilities, the new Orthopaedic Hospital will house 28 examination rooms, a bioengineering research laboratory and research space, in addition to faculty offices for the UCLA/Orthopaedic Hospital Department of Orthopaedics, residency facilities for the Orthopaedic Hospital/UCLA Residency Program, administrative offices for Orthopaedic Hospital, an electronically advanced medical library, and a boardroom.
The new facility will strengthen Orthopaedic Hospital's premier position in the field of medicine and allow for expanded capabilities, enabling the Hospital to accommodate up to 150,000 outpatient visits annually.
